Keeping Track of Your Sources

It is very important to keep track of your sources as you research. Nothing is more frustrating than having a great quotation and not knowing where it came from. Develop a good, consistent system for keeping notes to avoid plagiarism. This guide will help students properly format their research paper and cite their sources. You MUST create your Works Cited document BEFORE beginning your research so that you can keep track of your sources as you go along.

Turnitin.com

To better help students understand the complexities of plagarism, as well as the need to accurately download sources, Westlake High School has adopted Turnitin.com as a teaching tool.  Students will be required to submit written assignments to Turnitin.com to ensure academic integity.

Database - Journal

Website

Editor, author, or compiler name (if available). Name of Website. Version number. Name of institution/organization affiliated with the site (sponsor or publisher), date of resource creation (if available). Web. Date of access.
